The river seems to have peaked at 0920 this morning at 10.2 metres. It seems at this stage that the town has got away with this one just. If all goes to plan, the river will continue to fall slowly, enabling the highway to hopefully open this evening.

A lot of the flood water has been caused by the drains being blocked from the sheer amount of the water. The river itself hasn't seemed to flow over the banks too much, which has saved probably a lot of damage in the town.

For the guys in Tassie, I won't be down now until Thursday morning, and I depart on Sunday - so it's now only a flying trip through instead of the planned 10 days!

    Cheers
    Chris

I let the mayor know he can send some trucks up to bring the water back and fill the dams up around here.

It seems like it one extreme to another. First horrible drought now flash flooding. Mother nature must have PMS.

Dreading the rains round our place this is the first time I have seen our place go from hard dry dirt to just fine powder.
