I was told by some one the other day that TNT is now owned by Fedex, not sure if it is true. I know a wile back I had some parts sent from the UK which I was told was coming with TNT but for some global problem with there computer they subed the job to Fedex who once it arived in AU was subed to some tin pot Co who tookj 3 weeks to deliver it from Sydney to Brisbane. I also bought some thing the other day & payed with Paypal & Paypal added the GST so no problems.
I have some engine parts in an order from the UK that unfortunately just tripped over the $1000AUD trigger. I paid the GST in the original purchase from the UK supplier. Now I am getting emails from a company called AM Services asking for a $95 fee for them to organise a Customs formal entry etc. If Customs require a form or fees, shouldn't they be contacting me directly??? Any idea how this is supposed to work?
Chris
All freight companies employ customs clearance agents to do the paperwork, that's the beauty of privatisation. The sooner you cough up the sooner the parcel clears customs. From my experience these guys want to do their job as fast as possible too, credit card payment makes their job much quicker than with any form of direct debit.
Hasn't the under $1000 GST exemption been abolished so GST applies from $1 up?

You fellows buying from the UK are getting your gear VAT exempt, aren't you?
I believe VAT is 20%.
If you don't like trucks, stop buying stuff.
