Yea just skimming through the rules they mix and match between states, i found an old vic roads sheet that said give way to your right but it's now archived so it's obviously changed to try keep all the rules the same. I still remember the computer test and it was give way to your right. Still I'm gonna give way to the right like I always have like everyone else does to me, try not giving way to a semi on your right and see what happens.Quote:

I now work on the premise that if I can safely enter without causing the other vehicle/s to change their intent as a result, I will do so, even if there is someone already in the roundabout and/or to my right. Certainly speeds up the through traffic when everyone gets it and does this.
I do on occasion wonder why some wont enter for example a standard 4 part roundabout when someone to their left (ie next or further entry point around) has just entered prior, and they sit there waiting to see if the other car is going to come right around to them when they could have easily and safely proceeded without impacting (no pun intended) on that vehicle - if you get my drift.

Also if that's the rule they should make all roundabouts 40ks max so the person who was at the roundabout first can go though safely without having someone trying to fly through at 80ks from their right.

A problem with the give way to your right rule if applied to a roundabout is that you could have cars approaching a roundabout from all roads at a similar time, with everyone giving way to the right, stopping, and nobody moves.
Similarly, a vehicle coming in on your right might have to give way to someone on their right, someone you dont have to give way to. The proper rule avoids this, it avoids vehicles stopping for no reason. Vehicles stopping for no reason can create risks and confusion, and it can compound.
