Look how much publicity it has already given Byron. They could get decades of publicity out of it.

Maybe Byron Councillors are learning from Trump.

    That would be politics.

I'm offended by the willfully immature, sexist, boring aesthetics and ridiculous cost of the thing.

Hopefully the 'artist' intended it to be a reflection of the rampant capitalist greed that has swamped the once magnificent and humble place Byron used to be. The irony of which would be its only saving grace, yet still dumfoundingly stupid.

I had to go and check it out today.
Unsurprisingly the photos are taken from the worst possible angle.
Driving along Ewingsdale Dr you can see straight through it, and it's obvious that the covering is like flocks of birds (seagulls?)

This is the main entrance to the arts and trade/industrial area of Byron, so not really out of place either.
Thank god the bloody roundabout is open though, the roadworks have been going for what feels like forever.

Still sounds horrendous - a flock of seagulls on a fat chip?

Horrendous , I agree . But for some reason the phrase reminded me of the 80’s synth /hair band of that name 🤢

My local contact reckons the "professional whingers" were complaining long before it got built. Reckons it is less phallic than the byron lighthouse.

Maybe we could do with another photo.
