Went to a whiskey tasting session today with my eldest...actually went last week as well by myself.
@ Bunya Mountains, $25 for the session which included 3 half nips.......while being educated about whiskey. They have 120+ whiskeys on the shelf. The young fella is only new to running the session and to us uneducated we thought he did a good job.
First time ever doing something like this and first time over really tried whiskey apart from the run of the mill blended whiskeys with mixers.
100% enjoyed the experience..... hung around and tasted a few more after each session.
Today we sampled 8 different whiskeys......end cost including two local pale ales was 110 bucks.....it was an enjoyable hour or so. We also worked out that we could share 1/2 nips to get the experience and make the dollar go a little further.
The session last week had 16 and today there was just 6 off us sampling.
I’m still a novice but at least a little more informed.
The barman was happy to line up the one we tasted today.

Pfft....only twice distilled.
I learnt today that the Irish are still the leaders in triple distilled and are starting to edge there way back into the market.
