If you think the process is onerous, you should try being one of the former refugees I've helped to apply who come from countries which don't issue birth certificates, so they can't provide their age or place of birth. One woman could only say she was born 'under a tree'. Plus as refugees they don't have passports, just UN registration papers, which frequently contain
errors. But they have eventually been approved, so it can be done.Quote:

Did a fair bit of flying in Hercs and if I knew we were flying in them I took earmuffs as well as the ear plugs they handed out.
Btw , I'm now on a DVA pension for my hearing. Noise in the military can be absolutely atrocious. Couldn't get much noisier than inside a Herc.

Flightline noise on most Aussie RAAF bases is pretty bad. Edinburgh used to have P3s running up for hours on end, sometime over shifts. The drone was horrible. Couldn't imagine it would be much different at Richmond. Williamtown is pretty much on the taxi way/runway and when the jets take off in pairs, six to eight at a time, you just have to stop everything you are doing and cover your ears. Tindal was far the best. Even the closet point, the movements hanger hardly hear them. Even living there you only heard them when the wind changed direction and they did the approach flypast over the accommodation.Quote:
