As a huge bonus it will entitle you to vote. No kidding.

Who you would have confidence in though is anyone's guess. Wirths Circus springs to mind.

Oh hang on, that's what we currently have.

You might also, if you are lucky, get a cuppa tea & a biscuit if your local council can be bothered & possibly press the flesh with the Mayor.

Can't say fairer than that guv.

Definitely do it. BTW pension only requires 10 years of residence, I believe.
I know a Kiwi married 40 years with kids who bought a ticket for a holiday and was told if she left Oz she couldn't come back.

If you think the process is onerous, you should try being one of the former refugees I've helped to apply who come from countries which don't issue birth certificates, so they can't provide their age or place of birth. One woman could only say she was born 'under a tree'. Plus as refugees they don't have passports, just UN registration papers, which frequently contain

errors. But they have eventually been approved, so it can be done.

Cup of tea, a lamington and a native plant! As well as the mayor a few other dignitaries (police commander, RAAF base commander) etc and a bit of a show bag, and your certificate!
    Cheers

The only way I could describe it is if you went from a s2a (C-130 or Carabu) to a RRV(c-17). You can do the exact same thing in both, but the C-130 was way more fun and dangerous.. also more prone to vomit and becoming deaf.

The coolest thing about a C-17 is it can reverse!
I was of the opinion a C-130 can reverse , in fact I'm sure I've seen it done.

Flying to Malaya in a C130 out of Twnsville , about an hour out lost an engine.....so what? Just keep going, it flies ok on 3.

Did a fair bit of flying in Hercs and if I knew we were flying in them I took earmuffs as well as the ear plugs they handed out.

Btw , I'm now on a DVA pension for my hearing. Noise in the military can be absolutely atrocious. Couldn't get much noisier than inside a Herc.

You'd want to hope it's not an 80' Stringy. In a pot, of course.

Flightline noise on most Aussie RAAF bases is pretty bad. Edinburgh used to have P3s running up for hours on end, sometime over shifts. The drone was horrible. Couldn't imagine it would be much different at Richmond. Williamtown is pretty much on the taxi way/runway and when the jets take off in pairs, six to eight at a time, you just have to stop everything you are doing and cover your ears. Tindal was far the best. Even the closet point, the movements hanger hardly hear them. Even living there you only heard them when the wind changed direction and they did the approach flypast over the accommodation.

I flew from Edinburgh to Butterworth via what felt like all of WA and a fair chunk of ocean in the back of a P3 over a 26hr period. Took a week to hear properly again, then the Herc ride back to Darwin a week later ruined my hearing for better part of a month.

Combined with everything else I did in Defence, I have actually lost a frequency range in my right ear. Coincidentally the side I fire from..
