This tough old 97 year old is royalty and to be quite honest most of us would be over the moon to be simply breathing at his age let alone have the ability to still be able to drive.
As for the woman that ended up with the broken wrist I imagine that she will recieve a fairly generous compensation payout and to answer her question about "is she in the same socio/economic status as old Phil then of course she isn't.
I do agree that IF someone looses the capacity to drive safely due to age or injury/illness they should be prohibited from doing so But I verry much doubt that old mate will wear the coppers taking his drivers licence away too well.

trout, I don't believe it is the tall poppy syndrome being discussed here at all. It is us being critical of Phil & taking the mick out of a person who apparently could have handled this situation, that he seems to have brought upon himself, a whole lot better.
HM the Q's Maid/Lady in Waiting whoever it was, didn't cause the accident, he did.

I bet if the other driver was a leggy, 30 odd, blue-eyed Blonde things would be a lot different. He'd have been on the blower quick smart.

Why the cops haven't apparently yet taken her statement is anyone's guess & it does seem remiss of them not to have done so but that really isn't the point here.

I think if the cops don't treat Phil in the same way as any other driver would be in the same circumstances there will be an outcry about favouritism.
I bet if I had pulled out in front of another vehicle, caused a broken wrist and other injuries, endangered two women and a baby and rolled my own car, I would have already been charged here in Australia.
Does the English class system protect Phil from being accountable under the English law just because he is a royal? Time will tell.

I’m not sure you would be charged.....

in the couple of accidents I’ve been involved with nobody was charged......whiplash can be worse than a broken wrist and I recall at least one person complained of whiplash.
