But seriously, whilst it was HOT, blackouts did not directly affect us, we are up in the Mallee for a few days, based at Wycheproof, for a good old fashioned Australia Day celebration.
We also do a bit of touring, and whilst the car read out showed 45C, inside the car was pretty good, and the motel A.C. wasn't subject to a blackout, so all was good. But I tell you what, we didn't do much walking around in what the locals said was 47C+. Inside the Pub was good too,....2 meals, a bottle of Pepperjack & 4 beers for $49!!!.....Can't beat that,....even made the heat bearable.
The Aussie Bush is a good place to be, hope you had a good Australia Day.

Cheers, Pickles. That's a great attitude, good for you. A quiet day for my wife and I, relaxing. The children and their partners have gone far and wide, enjoying our great country. Mary and I are topping the day off by cooking Moroccan roast lamb on the Weber. And a cleansing ale or wine , or two. Imagine that 50 years ago, Moroccan roast lamb on an American BBQ? Not much wrong with this country , mate, that can't be made right.

I've met them all Dave. Made it a point to. Same as I spoke to Muslim " extremists" in Toulon France, back in 1977. Back when there was a chance of a conversation that may have stopped 9/11. But , as now, muddle headed people refused to budge. That is why we must find a solution , because who knows what will happen down the track.

Not odd at all, the Brits had been building climate-appropriate buildings all over the Empire.

It'd be about the same, or less, than using an air conditioner. If anyone had cause to recharge an EV during a heatwave.

BTW, during blackouts EVs can run a house, once you take the house off the grid - it's how they do it in Japan.

I've got solar in place, have had for about 8 years. On Thursday and Friday we ran the aircon, which we don't normally have to do because our house is heavily insulated and solar passive, and even so we were probably net contributors to the grid.

So Victoria's coal fired power stations failed to do the job and and Victoria had to import hydro power from Tasmania, wind, solar and gas power from SA and power from NSW, which is itself importing gas and solar power from Queensland. Gee, those Victorians better install more renewable power quick smart to make up for the failing coal power Horror heatwave blackout fears for Victoria
