No, a 'one-off', designed by a small scale designer from Melbourne.

Interesting story on them here, especially the USN Admiral's description of North Korean mine warfare.

Thanks for that bob. Fascinating stuff.

Would Minesweepers actually need their own Smoke Screen Generator 'cos it would be a waste going by the junk they tossed into the air as a Locomotive?

Now, if they could be harnessed for a Land Rover.

Hard to know if its stealth was compromised audibly or visibly.

Yes, the ton class were the first class to have a machinery control room, on account of the noise. But because of the machinery cradle, and resilient mounts, that did not transmit to where it would compromise operations. But you would know that Ian, because you would have read the post.
I’m pretty sure the dinosaurs died out when they stopped gathering food and started having meetings to discuss gathering food

Have just got around to watching the You Tube on the Ton Class. Appears as though Curlew was actually searching for WW2 mines near Moresby in '75. Blimey, took their time!

She had a good life & I hope she received a decent end to her career.

Hey is this a discussion about finding Flinders' grave or a discussion on the Ton Class minesweeper/hunter?

Hi Gary, this could be one of those threads that traditionally go "Off Topic" we hear about, but no disrespect to Flinders or other posters here.

It does contain a bit of Australian Maritime History albeit RAN, so can't be all bad.

Wouldn't have sailed an inch, no diesel back then.
