Smugness is the pervading ailment of the majority of world leaders who are climate change deniers. There is nothing smug about Adern IMO.

Capitalist greed generated smugness is the cause of climate change and mining deaths.

For me, my biggest gripe with the current trend for sensationalist environmentalist, is this notion that we're endangering our future somehow with the warming global trend.
All will this supposed scientifically proven data, doomsayers claiming that if we don't act now, we risk human survival in the future.

Where is this supposed data that shows us that humans have somehow been seriously affected due to a warming globe?

We know that it was much much colder even only 5000 years ago, when just shy of the QLD border glaciers only had just melted. ie. some 10K years ago, there were glaciers in QLD!
Can't have been too hot for a glacier to have taken some 5-10K to fully disappear .. ie. globe has warmed more significantly in the past 5-10K years than it currently is.

And then what .. humans seemed to have become extinct?
Estimated population was rougly in the 1million range back then .. and now what 7.8 billion.

If my basic math is still good enough to roughly work out the difference ... I'm thinking 1 million -> 7.8 billion is a slight increase in numbers. ie. Human population didnt' really suffer all that much in terms of number seeing a what .. maybe 10°C increase in average global temps(everywhere from Sahara to QLD/SW border) ...

If we are to just accept the scientific data that the globe is warming .. fair nuff.

But using the same principles they use(historical data begets future data) .. ie. because it's got hotter in the past X years, then the next Y years will also get hotter. This is the basic premise that they use for their scare mongering preachings!

So, with a ~ 10°C increase in average temps in the past 10 off K years, we saw not only a monumental increase in human numbers on this planet, but an even greater accumulation rate of knowledge, even tho some sections of society have tried to and succeeded in destroying so much of it.

Therefore if the message should be anything, and using their underlying principle, then the coming warming period is more than likely going to advance humans numbers, but we CAN) do somethimg about this with proper social practises .. and an even greater rate of advances in knowledge looking forward.

Our generation won't ever see it, and the future people won't know temperature less than say 20-50°C

Quite simply, there is zero data that has shown us that the previous warming period is harmful to human survival!

summary: much ado about nothing!
