I wonder whether part of what enabled indigenous Australians to conduct successful burns for 60,000+ years was that there was no infrastructure to worry about and far fewer people.

(And no politicians, greenies, newspapers, facebook, twitter, etc)

    Re the foreign aid.
there are lots of Canadian fire fighters here helping and I think NZers but they never get any media attention or recognition.

    #1 thats not financial
#2 the govt is paying for them, ie, the govt is reimbursing the candian gov wage. etc. so its not really foreign aid.
#3 has been some media attention

Many of the remote area bush/mountain fires are not going to be put out until we get significant rain which is unlikely until March.

Every hot day is going to be trouble. You cannot burn twice is perhaps the only small help "3.6 million hectares" 'RFS' (NSW only I think)

    Keep safe all

Not so. The kiwis came and left with reports in the local media, and even did a farewell Haka in a country town, and 39 North American fire fighters have been reported as landing in Melbourne, on their way to relieve Australians. There were reports in the media of other north American fire fighters in other parts of the country.

Not sure if this will work.

I’m pretty sure the dinosaurs died out when they stopped gathering food and started having meetings to discuss gathering food

A bookshop is one of the only pieces of evidence we have that people are still thinking

When the fires are extinguished and the recovery and rebuilding starts is when the victims will really suffer stress and disillusionment. A friend was burnt out in the Mt. Macedon fire of 1983. He told me that dealing with the insurers nearly put both of them into psychiatric care. Many of the locals who suffered major damage became convinced that the insurance coy. staff and assessors were not there to help but to deny and/or minimise claims.

    Hi,
The shareholders and board members expect dividends from their investments, insurance is not a charity.
But they will be in the spotlight on this one which may help to loosen the purse strings.
    Hopefully!

    Cheers

They managed the landscape to avoid hot burns, which would have been disastrous for them and their food sources, by careful firestick farming.

*In a cooler climate without the same weather extremes we have now.
