All we need, It's just one thing after another.

Combustible cladding fears as fire spreads up Melbourne apartment complex
I’m pretty sure the dinosaurs died out when they stopped gathering food and started having meetings to discuss gathering food

A bookshop is one of the only pieces of evidence we have that people are still thinking

BLOODY HELL bob! that looks just like the initial Grenfell Tower UK fire starting.

Hopefully the lads have got it under control.

I suppose we now wait for the usual buck passing & subsequent whitewash to start. FFS!

I hope they have learn't by that lesson & that all the residents are uninjured & safe.

Is that what all the commotion was!!!

Idiot son was late for college(on his first day), so dropped daughter off to high school first and tried to get son as close to the quickest public transport stop I could.
Traffic into the city area(from the north) was quite good, till I got onto Spencer St, where it was a ghost town.
Close to 2 blocks or so from the fire, I notice lots of flashing emergency lights.
Detoured around city here to get onto Wurundjeri Way directly to his spot thinking no traffic .. and bam! right into the thick of the diversion.
Traffic flow forced me back up Spencer St where we were detoured around the remains of the fire.
Nothing on fire at the time(9AM), no smoke .. nothing .. just lots of fire trucks and traffic cops.
    Arthur.

All these discos are giving me a heart attack!

That is a relief for all concerned AK. The last thing Vic or anywhere else needs is another Grenfell Tower disaster.

Bloody alucabond! Ive installed over 1000 square meters of the stuff over the years, outside and inside!
Have they worked out what's igniting the sheets?
The big gold building on the North side of the Westgate is completely covered in the stuff, i wonder if the VBA will recall all the cladding and have it replaced...

Just listening the the radio and it appears there was an issue with this cladding in Melbourne in 2014, than the Grenville Tower in 2016 ish??

I’m thinking the authorities would be expecting another event if there hasn’t been anything done.

Apart from an investigation and a review....has anything actually been done to reduce the risk.

I checked the building I work in.....cladding Free so that one less thing for me to worry about.

That building, like a lot of the new builds, is a slum ... many people didn't hear the alarms, many residents had covered smoke alarms so they wouldn't go off when they were cooking - so, maybe ventilation is not that good, but too bad if a fire does start in one those kitchens, overcrowding, some stories about people sleeping in the stairwells - there's going to be a major catastrophe in one of these buildings.

You can't have it both ways, an annoying sound when you are doing a Stir Fry OR your life.

Which authority is supposed to police these dumps?

Isn’t this the same cladding that has the equivalent chemical energy per square metre as over a litre of petrol? I’m not sure I would want a fuel tanker on the outside of anywhere I live!
