Hope you get better soon. Looks like I might need my left knee replaced soon as it's giving me heaps lately. But if the op. goes as well as the right TKR did I will be happy with that.
Up the next day for physio, out of the hospital after 4 days, (pity that as the physio girls were real nice....) couple of weeks intensive physio at the local hospital, hot water bottle on the knee for 2 weeks (it felt bloody freezing in bed. ) and that was it. Bit of assistance with sticks for a couple of weeks and no pain killers except the occasional Panadol.
Keep up keeping it working and you'll be chasing the maidens around soon.

I had what they call the Ice Man which was an ice box full of ice & water that has a pump that pumps ice water through a cool suit on your knees, one for each kneemakes you very cold but releaves the pain . Physio want me to state walking short distances with out any aids & only use the crutches for balance not putting any weight on the crutches that's one week after the OP. Every one at the hospital recond I was a brave man having two done together but The reason for it was there was only the one chance of having a DVT so not brave at all. The 1st few days I thought I had made the wrong choice but now ine week on I can get around quite easy .

A couple of photo's over the last week 20190225_155143.jpg after OP day of OP 20190226_090859_001.jpg 20190226_090905_001.jpgLeft & Right leg day 2 after op
20190226_090912.jpg I had two tubes running into my knees that automatically fed pain killers into the joint that is what the black cylinders are beside my legs. These photo's were taken just before these were remover , & that is when I started getting pain in my knees & lots more pain killers by mouth.

It was 2 weeks yesterday I had t h e OP, so spent the day at the hospital having ultrasound to see how the DVT is going , then to other end of hospital for second Physio visit, then back to lmlging to collect hard copy of ultrasound , then to txtreme end of hospital to doctors rooms . So all that killed from 9 am through 2pm, been a long day.
So the result of all that is I still have a DVT requiring stronger blood thinners , some more pain killers to get me through the night as the ones I had were wearing off around 1.30am & I could not take any more untill around 7am . Dr & Physio are so pleased with my progress walking I can now walk adound inside at home with out the crutches , if I go out side I am to use onr crutch & when we go out to shops ect , to use two. I am happu about that. Also Dr said it was OK to start driving as soon as I feel I am OK to do so. I will see how I am going in a couple of more weeks , the ppain killers make me a little tired & I am not sure how I would be in an emergency stop .
So mostly good news today , just need to get rid of thea DVT .

I have a mate going to have one knee done 18th April so have been passing on to him what I have learnt. The doctor & hospital so far has not told him what he needs to do pre OP for the best out come. & what he is going to need once home. I found the pre admittance course very handy to get prepaired

Been 11 weeks since OP on knees & things have progressed quite well, can do most things but still can't get down to work on anything low on cars . If I do get down to ground level I can't get back up . I have also found that driving my 1984 BMW 323I e30 any distance is not comfortable , there is not enough leg room even with seat fully back , so looks like it will have to go to be replaced by a Rover 3500SE if I can find one in reasonable condition, they are getting like hens teeth. Apart from that should have done it years ago & don't regret getting the two done together. Have not tried driving the 80" as yet but don't think it should be a problem as I never drive it any big distance these days anyway.
