I've found that if you ask them to tell you about themselves, you will usually get the answers to a lot of unasked questions - and confirmation (or otherwise) of what is on the resume. As well as a good or bad impression.
in a job interview i was asked if i was married.

I’d suggest not answering a question with a question......and seek to understand the reason for the question after.
In saying that if the interviewer just blurted out what’s your religious background or faith than he needs to improve his interview skills. For a question around the interviewer should have lead into the question with background, context so that the interviewee didn’t need to answer the question with a question.
The father of a high school classmate of mine had four furniture factories. He would not employ a Roman Catholic as he regarded them as disloyal and untrustworthy owing allegiance to the pope and their other religious leaders. He would simply ask applicants about whose faith he was uncertain, what schools they had attended. In those days almost no RC kids were in state schools.

The reason that they asked is that in Brendon is that in his statement of purpose that he had to submit with all the other documents where it mentioned that he volunteers at the salvation army second hand shop here in Tecoma 2 half days a week. He said no, he is not religious, and he said that he wanted to give back to the community. Well if he gets the job he will leave this April and our older son has moved out this year as well which leaves us on our ownHeather
