There is a dangerous movement among a growing number of Chiropractors who claim that spinal manipulation can cure a raft of ailments via the spines connection to the Central Nervous System, which is utter quackery.
There is also a growing number of health professionals calling for Chiropractors to be banned from practising Medicine, as opposed to mere musculoskeletal manipulation.
Chiropractic was founded as a complete system of alternative medicine. This system has no basis in science or properly conducted research into results. It may have some benefit in treatment of back ailments and possibly other muscular and joint problems.

Only a relatively few practitioners today subscribe to the full chiropractic system, but they are all influenced by it. Many of them are essentially practising physiotherapy in a somewhat limited form.

The one in this news item would seem to be one of the few!

Given the degree of trouble all of Australia's police services have been found out in, ethics and police do not appear to be compatible. Maybe he did not teach them well enough.

How chiropractors can be allowed to refer to themselves as 'Doctor' has always mystified me. As far as I know, they do a university degree that earns them a 'Bachelor of Chiropractic'. They are no more 'doctor' than anyone else with an undergraduate degree. Medical doctors, if my understanding is accurate, do a course that earns them two degrees- Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery (hence MBBS). The term 'Doctor' in that case is historic. Other fields (such as engineering) earn the title 'Doctor' by completing a Doctorate of Philosophy (PhD) in their chosen field, which involves research that adds to the field of knowledge, as opposed to learning stuff that is already in books.
