I have done this a few times over the years with either the front or rear shaft removed due to damage and the CDL locked. It was a daily driver back then and had to do a 180km+ return trip to work irrespective of how many driveshafts I had in at the time... You really notice the handling difference, esp on dirt/gravel so take it easy and get a feel for it but you'll do no damage.
