It was always a blackboard when I grew up and went to school, even though they were green. I was talking to a teacher some time ago and asked if they now use whiteboards instead of blackboards. I was told (
in a very stern teacher tone) that "we don't call them
blackboards anymore, they are chalkboards" with an emphasis on the word black. Search Bunnings for blackboard paint, you get zero results, even Google blackboard paint and you mostly get links to chalkboard. I know, someone is going say "but that is what it is, a chalkboard" well the other board is an erasable marker board it just happens to be white. If I invented a white erasable marker and made the appropriate boards black so the marker could be seen and called them blackboards, how far do you think that would fly? My guess is right into the AHRC.
EXACTLY!!!! So why should a little black doll invented in the 19th century be any different.
How long do we have to keep dredging up history for the sake of political correctness. I think it is time to move on and live as the Human Race, Earthlings or some other collective noun, in peace and at one with the planet.

Who am I kidding that's never gunna happen.
I'll leave this thread to continue on whatever path it may, I think I have made my point and we can go around in circles 'til the cows come home. If you missed my point it is simply this....
It's a toy. It's a doll. It is
modern humanity that has attached the racism to this much loved character.
Out.
