The company is the same mob that had the huge oil spill in the gulf of Mexico. Their record is, according to them, two huge spills in 59,000 wells. I'm not a gambler. Spend the money on Hydrogen.Quote:

I think we need to put a lot more thought into becoming energy self-sufficient. We are at the bottom of the world and no-one owes us a living. Energy self-sufficiency should be a top priority.
In WW2 the Japanese objective was to capture Port Moresby and use it as a base to attack shipping to and from Australia and strangle our economy. They nearly succeeded too, reaching the ridge above the airport.
It just shocks me that any government would accept this country getting down to around 20 days of fuel supplies. That is just negligence, I think.
The 90 day target would be better, but really we have aiming for full self sufficiency.
If we could meet more of our needs through exploration, increased gas and a huge increase in renewables, making EVs commonplace, it would be great.
Without escorts, both ships would just be targets. Ask any submariner. There are only two kinds of warships, submarines and targets. If we were threatened with invasion, The LHD's would be required to be moved , with soldiers, to counter such invasion. The oilers would have to support them. The Navy does not have enough escorts , our only hope would be for The USN to support us. If they were otherwise engaged in their own struggle for survival, goodnight the fox. We may have the best trained little Army in the World [ and I believe we do], but it means nothing if they can't close with and engage the enemy.Quote:
