Harassment of truckies by Little Hitlers

This is the type of rigid enforcement of petty regulation by small minded officials that was practiced by the old Vic. Country Roads Board and the NSW Highway Patrol during their campaigns of deliberate harassment of heavy trucks and drivers.

This fine is less than those applied to some laws I feel are ridiculous. But like the official I suppose I am a minority in my beliefs

Yeah, dicks like this give them all a bad name. While he deserves a kick in the pants for being such an arsehole he'll probably get a promotion instead.

A whole 2 centimetres. Less than one inch. So dangerous! That overhanging bale might just rip the side out of a bus full of nuns and school children.

I’m hearing what you’re saying and sure it could of been handled differently.......

but how far do you recommend you be can be overloaded and it be OK??, and how can this be made consistent across inspectors and drivers.

And just imagine if the bail did clip a bus and cause an accident, don’t reckon they would ignore the rules after the event.

The old story give em an inch they’ll take a mil

Easy as to define - a bit of common sense applies - no dramas for 2cm of hay for drought relief, 2cm of steel plate may be a different story, but why the fine? Even just requesting to sort the load so it's legal and on your way. The fine is at the Officers discretion- he's obviously a tool..

RMS inspectors at Coolac at an inspection station, not the police. The flags for the 20cm oversize permit would have protruded a lot further out than 2cm but they are allowed to, indeed have to be wider than the load. Fortunately the case was dismissed in the court hearing but the RMS "processing fee" still had to be paid.
