    Advice/Info/Suggestions wanted.

Admin/Mods - apologies in advance if not in the right thread.

After 17 long years i’m Returning to Aus in Dec this year but with the family in tow.
we arrive in Perth 2nd Dec & will have a few days catching up with family & friends before heading to Cairns where the kids (2x 13, 11 & 9) will be ‘sat’ whilst SWMBO (She who must be obeyed) head out on a Liveaboard for 4 days.

we then pick up a RV & head to Brisbane over 15 or so days & this is where I need your help.
other than a stop at Mission Beach, Townsville for a 2 tank dive back on the Yongala & plans for Australia Zoo we have nothing as yet planned, a firm believer in local knowledge i’m after info on good campsites, sights not to miss, beaches to find, places to eat & things to do with the kids. As long as i’m In Brisbane for the 27th to catch the flight to Sydney i’m Open to suggestions.
I’ve into’d myself in the correct section & also stuck a post on the FB page but please feel free to shout up if you can spare the time or have any thoughts.
the kids will be doing a presentation at school on their return & we’d like to make this trip educational as well as fun.
i’ll also Stick a post up in ‘Members Rides’ & introduce you to ‘Frosty’ my MY15 D4 HSE Lux.

    Thanks in advance.
    Paul

It’s a tropical time of the year......

I personally rate Australia Zoo......visited a couple of months ago and spent the entire day there

To get into the mood for Australia zoo, Rockhampton has a free zoo..don’t set your expectation to high but I reckon it’s excellent value for money.....

Day trip to Fraser Island/Kingfisher Resort including bus trip over the island. If nothing else the cat trip alone is worth it,,

North Stradbroke Island off Brisbane is also nice and the ferries run frequently so it can be either a day trip or there is accommodation.

Surf beach at Bribie? I think not. Not by my definition of surf.

Jester, are you planning a straight shot down the east coast from Cairns? Perhaps a dogleg from Townsville via Winton to Rockhampton to show the pommie kids some outback.

    Cheers for replies so far.
5 week visit, though we will be back again as i’m keen to spend more time in the Ningaloo - this trip the wrong time of year for Whale Sharks.

@ Bigbjorn as above open to all suggestions for the kids to experience as much as possible in the time we have.

Babinda Creek and The Boulders (also at Babinda).
Stockman's Hall of Fame at Longreach, Walzing Matilda Centre, Truck & Machinery museum at Winton if you want to do the big unit's dog leg. Blackall, Woolscour and home to the black stump, Roma Big Rig are on the same route.
If you don't like trucks, stop buying stuff.
