I've got a fair idea where this location is and if I'm correct, the tracks are not closed or environmentally significant.. For non-Qlders info, the Qld government is not exactly generous with NP and Forestry funding and as such, a lot of what would be deemed " Maintenance " simply never happens. Funny, isn't it that, in Qld, it's illegal to have a chainsaw in your possession in a NP but, recommended in NSW.
So, different rules for different places. Also, there is no camping in the area so worrying about closures is unnecessary.
These tracks are only officially mentioned when something occurs and they perhaps could have served a purpose.
The subject of "Maintenance ": is raised briefly and then placed into the local politician's "I'll look into" pigeon hole.

It's a good place to have a poke around.

This is a joke, if there is bush on a trail, its fair game to be bashed, it will be graded sooner or later, sorry you hit the ditch mate, thanks for clearing a track through the old trail. Few new pinstripes?

Looks like lantana anyway(which is a noxious weed) rip that outa the bush anywhere.

This is an argument to keep trails open to 4x4ers, we make sure there is a way through.

*you may need a twin locked firetruck though Bush bashing funBush bashing fun

Trails are closed because of greenies going too far and lack of funds to manage trails in NSW. Yes there is the odd occasion its because of hoons but its rarely why they are locked for good.

Vic is the best imo for trails, working with 4x4ers, seasonal closers where needed, trail grading.

Cmon parks NSW! I know forest nsw are coming around and want to work with 4wders.

    Exactly.
Anyone who knows me knows I see the funny side of everything (life is far too short to take it seriously... what I always thought of as a traditionally Aussie trait).

Ironically I ain't that young (crept at heart) at 49 so maybe it is because of my age I still possess said She'll-Be-Right humour... something that seems to be disappearing in this country today. God knows the younguns today seem to have lost it.

Despite being a member here for years I rarely post. Guess when I do I better make sure to use the correct pronouns too if people are 'offended' by the term Bush Bashing

You're only a pup. You are a Queenslander, mate. The great oppressed from far away have had their sense of humour knocked about, some even lock themselves in their homes, to escape nasty Africans. Cut them some slack, they are not bad people, when you get to know them. They just can't understand how we still have access to good 4wdriving, while their tracks are locked. That only happens when you don't look after your country. Keep looking after the country, do the right thing, and we might even invite them up here to see what it is all about.
I’m pretty sure the dinosaurs died out when they stopped gathering food and started having meetings to discuss gathering food

A bookshop is one of the only pieces of evidence we have that people are still thinking

The OP's first post came across as him "Skiteing" about bashing through the bush and running out of beer, Seriously what sort of reaction did he expect to get from Serious 4WD enthusiasts?
There is a huge difference between Bushbashing and cutting/clearing a track for use as a fire trail and booze and 4WDing is Never a great idea, Even IF the driver stays sober drunken passengers are No great asset in tough terrain.

Many of us have seen first hand the carnage done to the bush, The rubbish littered and the damage done to the tracks by drunken Yobbo's in their 4WD's and seeing a post that is Bragging about this on the forum (Even IF it was in "Jest') is in poor taste.
By all means get out there and hone your skills or simply have fun in your 4WD because that is precisely why many of us buy them But leave the Booze (Even the passengers) until you get back to camp or back home

'Bush bashing', in the UK this could be interpreted as something quite different. Whilst drunk - not usually a problem. But punching through saplings - that's ****ed up!!

We are a hyper judgemental mob out here on the interweb. Too quick, too eager.

Happy Chocolate Egg Weekend you grumpy gits!

I would post my 'Bush bashing' pics/stories from over the weekend - if I had any

Did any one else get dirty?

I think people are taking the OP far too seriously, as he says "We followed some old fire trails". I don't have a problem with this, as he didn't go thru a gate or past a sign saying "Lawn establishment area" etc. Also his remark about beer can easily be seen as a joke, which is often the case when people use innuendos or euphemisms.

I'm glad people are out there clearing existing trails, as I have been down a few rough ones, they started out alright and next thing I know, I'm driving over fallen trees, tree stumps, getting my brother to hold branches and vines away from the sides and roof of the car! Some of them had signs saying "Unmaintained Road" and I think they meant since horse and cart days!

The councils don't want to maintain dirt roads, never mind tracks, and have allowed a lot of spur roads and even thru roads to be closed off by the landowners, and just move the mailboxes further back up the road.

Seeing as he has cleared up all the misconceptions, I say "Onya, Wolfie".

Here we go with the same old Vic bashing BS we’ve come to expect from you Bob. I have been to Queensland many times and I like the place, so you don’t need to invite me up. How about you give it a break, you sound like a stuck record. And our tracks aren’t all locked and we have some of the best 4WDing in the Country, I just don’t want ****wits ruining any more of it for the considerate ones - maybe if you all congregate up there, we can have maintain what we have down here. 😉.
