    A more realistic Defender Replacement

    How about this then, They still make proper 4x4's in Brasil.

    Civilian Vehicle Agrale Marrua - Agrale

    Cummins ISF 2.8 Euro5, Dana 44 front , Dana 70 powerlock rear . Eaton gearbox,
    2840 tare 4300g (1460 load) 3800 towing , 100L fuel

    How would us plebeians with LR cheese sticks learn to cope with such astronomically strong drivetrain?

    Maybe, but they also still made VB Beetles until 2006. Old school is good, but I would still want it to have sufficient new tech in it like good ABS, TC, EBD & ESC (and all the other techhie acronyms) plus diff-locks. It needs to be a cheaper alternative to the G-Wagen and have dealer support like the 70 series to succeed. I don't know how they are going to manage the second point unless they partner with a local network. I'd also like to see a wagon variant.

    The Dana 44 has been called many things , one of them isn't strong. Dana 60 (same as LR Salisbury) would be a better bet IMO.

    Top speed of 96km/h.
    100mm difference in wheel track front to rear axles....

    Not perfect but I like the Cummins powerplant.

    1.7T load capacity (including tray). Wow.
