Dynamite was always scary as it was never safe

Was once called out to a farm as the new owner had found some explosives and wanted them removed. When arrived found four sealed 20 pound boxes of black powder but with a box of dets sitting on top. This box was swollen and with green stuff coming out of it. We will leave questions about the thought process that decided it was a good idea put them together for another time

Burnt the dets then loaded up the powder and headed home. Now most times these types of calls there was nothing as it was a miss identification. So am loaded with enough powder to make a very large bang if it goes wrong. What was missing was the regulation Explosives signs on the vehicle. If the semi which was aggressively tailgating me on the highway only knew that this one could bite back

As a point of interest in the UK due to the political situation differing to Australia there is no signage on vehicle carrying explosives

years ago , when I was a remote areas diesel fitter in the NT , I used to drink XXXX....at the time XXXX was a bitter ale , which somehow later changed to a lager(horse **** & salt) , but it was easy to drink kimberly cool while the CUB crap was exactly that.

XXXX has become crap now and I dont drink it at all.....cheers to Coopers , who make beer......dunno what the other Australian stuff is.....although , chilled , Stone Bros Pacific Ale is preet good.

Is that where Terrorist mobs got the idea as it appeared it was used in many home made bombs?

The most recent "BANG" of that nature was the Dock Fire in Beirut. What a bloody mess!

At the height of all the terrorist bombings then, the Oz Gov wished to use a then disused ADF Married quarters to house foreign Nationals at Woodside. Close by to an agricultural area with agricultural Diesel & Ammonium Nitrate in sheds. Questions were asked whether this was a wise move considering the possible illegal theft of both.

Fortunately nothing transpired that we know of but it did remain a concern.

I guess we would have heard if there was any mischief, & how.

You may be interested in the fact that Coopers Brewery sits on top of what used to be the **** fields of the old Islington Sewerage Farm' Nothing to worry about now of course since they had the new Water Treatment system installed. It could still be a source of the unique flavour so maybe that could make the difference between them & other Brewers.

By hell that paddock grew the most lush grass you could ever wish to see. I think it was cut & sold to Dairy Farmers. by the truckload.

    Just saying.
