    Story on the news here. To help people to minimize energy costs they did an experiment with boiling water. To boil the kettle on the gas stove cost £1.99 while it cost £3.94 in an electric kettle. Not stated but am thinking this is per annum not per boil

    The electric kettle used less energy however due to the price differential between gas and electric the gas was cheaper. This seemed to run true for most of their tests

    Microwave came out as cheapest which to the best of my knowledge uses electricity although they did not boil water in the microwave rather used it for cooking food

    It's amazing how some people boil two litres of water to make a single cup of coffee. I, personally, only boil what I need. Why waste power boiling water that will only go cold ultimately?

    Hhhmmmm, I suspect you have been listening at my Kitchen Window.

    Then the extra cold water gets tossed out which then needs replacing by Pumped water from our big tank.

    Pump = electric power usage.

    I've found I can usually sneak 400~500ml out before the pump wakes up.

    That is fine if one can hear the pump kick in but tank & pump are probably aprox. 200' away & slightly downhill.

    Have a tiny piddle & the same applies.

    I know, I'll save it all up until day's end & then let it rip.

    Our dog does that as well.

    That’s why I take her for a walk at night,she can drop them off down the road when no one is looking.

    And the added bonus is she can chase the neighbourhoods cats as well.

    I gave chasing neighborhood moggies away when I bought my 12G.
