The dredging was not for the benefit of the shipping channels. Most of the sand was taken from 'Middle Banks' area.
The airport report stated that the erosion on the West coast of Moreton, from Cowan Cowan Point Northward, past the township of Bulwer, was 0.6m per year, using current and past information and photos.
The erosion in the above area, over the last 20 years, has far and away exceeded that measurement.
In the late '90s, I carried out an accurate, dune location survey along the front of Cowan Cowan township. Unfortunately, I have lost access to this info. I may take up the matter again.

'Thank You', Townsville Bulletin for this masterpiece of journalistic word crafting.
I assume the offending 'Rest Stop' has already been released, on bail.

Franky Zapata, 46, hoped to fly the 21-miles in his new invention the AirScooter - created by tech travel company Zapata.CEO Franky piloted the small 250lbs scooter - which is capable of reaching speeds of up to 63mph. The AirScooter takes off and lands vertically and flies through the air similar to how a helicopter would. But after taking off from Sangatte, France, on July 25, Franky's AirScooter came crashing into the water a short distance from Dover. He was unharmed in the incident. The flight was done with hopes of impressing US investors as the vehicle can be flown without a pilot license in the USA as an "ultralight vehicle".
Great idea IF it worked and didn't try DIVING
Don't be so harsh James, the Wright brothers didn't succeed on their attempt. Look where aeroplane are now.

"A German zoo has killed a dozen healthy Guinea baboons and fed them to predators.Nuremberg Zoo claimed that it had to kill the captive monkeys as a last resort to address an ?increase in conflict? caused by overcrowding.
The zoo's leaders were unable to find extra accommodation to house the red-bottomed baboons and decided to shoot 12 of them dead before feeding them to other predators in the zoo."
It sounds like recycling to me
Not to some of course
"Pro Wildlife, a German animal rights group, reacted with horror to the news of the cull as all the animals had been in good health ? before they were killed by Nuremberg's zookeepers"

I didn't catch the start of it but there was a snippet from the science show this morning on ABC RN about 9am about how data from accelerometers in modern cars with android comms is being collected and the data used to measure earthquakes and pinpoint epicentres.
No mention of apple for some reason.
Also tiny differences in web traffic speeds in undersea cables are being used for the same thing far from lad based seismographs.
DL
Not specifically android equipped cars, but all android devices connected to the web. See 403 Forbidden.
Not Apple, since it was developed by Google (or more accurately added to android using research work by others), although Apple apparently has something similar, but not as an integral part of the operating system that is active by default (and worldwide there are nowhere near as many as android). You would not know it is active on your device unless it comes up with a popup warning after calculating that you are in the zone affected, and it does this not from your device alone, but from the thousands of others that have detected it.
Edit. My link seems not to work, but do a search for the article on arstechnica.com.
