It is noticeable how some teenage boys don't seem to shower very often.

Every now and then I will "black snake" it when out bush or on an extended fishing trip if I am running short of water But usually I can spare the 5l of water that I need for a shower.
When at home I usually shower twice a day and use plenty of soap.
All I can call people who don't shower or bathe is GRUBS

Half a bucket is a bit extravagant...try one fill of a small Trangia tea pot.

Did 17 days in the Himalayas without a wash, teeth only. Body flora seems to adjust. Nobody noticed anyone else's smell.

On the other hand, a 1 hour walk in the Indonesian jungle then onto a local jeepney cheek to jowl had the locals commenting how we stunk (wife understands bahasa).

Suspect diet has a bit to do with smell, along with time it takes for flora to change and adapt.

Since 3 of my Teenaged boys discovered that girls wern't the horrible creatures they thought when they were younger it seems 3 or so showers a day are manditory, as much deoderant as possible, take an hour to brush your hair & then cover yourself in smelly lotions, creams & oils.
This does not take into account how long it takes to pick the correct clothes.
SWMBO is shocked by the cost of said creams & lotions. I point out that 14 to 16 year olds probably don't need the creams & lotions & I'm beyond creams & lotions saving me so we might as well spend the money on the Land Rover.
    The boys do not agree!

PS SWMBO is a bit suspect of my plan as well?

Just tell them to buy their own and see how their usage plummets.

What a load of codswallop! We own Land Rovers, we need to shower daily, using the best industrial strength oil and grease remover available.
You had an overdode of Maleny air, Mike?
If you don't like trucks, stop buying stuff.

    Hello Jones Farm,

When I studied Horticulture the Pathogens Lecturer made a statement about the "Kills 99 percent of germs".

A lot of those germs are ones that are known as being possible pests that healthy plants can handle naturally and will not be a problem for them.
Then among the remaining minority of pathogens on the plant there are some "real bad buggers" that can become economically significant threats. These are also harder to kill.

In a lot of cases these "real bad buggers" can only get on the plant if there is room for them. The "possible pests" crowd them out and do not provide space for interlopers.

The "Kills 99 percent of germs" treatment knocks the minor pests out first and leaves lots of space for the "real bad buggers" to do their work on the plant.

In the meantime the remaining 1 percent of the "real bad buggers" survive and breed.

Then we get something called "Resistance" and the real bad buggers outnumber the minor pathogens and then we are in big trouble

    Kind regards
    Lionel

having spent a period of my life as an infantry soldier , there were times when we went without a wash for several weeks , the body adjusted.

the army provided anti fungal powders and as an infantry section commander I enforced the use of them and conducted regular inspections , the guys got used to it very quickly , our medic backed me strongly.

hygiene is actually easy to maintain.

the problem with you guys who are stinkers at the end of the day never allow your body to adjust.
