I agree with <div class='quotetop'>QUOTE</div><div class='quotemain'>Bottom line though

Does it matter and do we care ??
, however it wasnt actually a test but opinion as far as I could see from the article, so it is unlikely that if you have 2 pootrols you are going to give it to another brand. What I would like to see is a test out of the box on Patrol,Cruiser,Pajero and D3 in both diesel and V6/V8 variants ( I get a little miffed when you never seem to see the V8&#39;s tested). Then conduct a test, that would be interesting. As far as I am aware and I have been reading these mags for at least 12 mths, I am yet to see a "shootout" of this nature.

Regards

Stevo

People will buy what they want. I got all the don&#39;t buy a Land Rover comments when I bought mine. One friend did support the move. I still bought it though.

At the end of the day, it&#39;s just an opinion, and if we all thought the same and we all agreed, it would be a boring old world. Personally, I&#39;d be more comfortable in an ownership situation with a 4.2 TD Patrol vs a TDV6 Disco III, and it&#39;s for that reason that I bought a Tdi rather than a TD5. Just too much to go wrong for this luddite.

Oh bugger, yes we own a 4.2 Patrol as well, so does that make me biased too ?

I agree with you Rick, thank christ we&#39;re all different. There wouldn&#39;t be any jibes or debates regarding British v Jap 4 wheelers for a start. I don&#39;t think any person who takes their 4 wheeling seriously believes half the crap these "experts" have to say. At the end of the day, as long as you are happy with your decision to purchase a Landrover , Landcruiser or Nissan is all that matters.

I think they might be sucking up to the other manufacturers after a Land Rover product took out both last years and this years 4WDOTY.

I feel much better now though, as it only serves to reasure me i made the right decision when i chose not to renew my subscription. Matt

From reading some of Ron Moons 4WDing books and seeing the signage on the side of his vehicle he uses for tag-along business, i&#39;d say he has a sponsorship deal going with Nissan.
Anyone else see a correlation?

Yeah, I&#39;ve noticed that. He also has a video on the Nissan website.

Obviously print journos aren&#39;t covered by the same sponsorship rules that electronic media journos comply with&#33;

Either way, if you&#39;re worried about technology, then buy a few camels or some bullocks and a dray&#33;

surprising the prado got up in it&#39;s class.
one way of making sure it won was by bumping the disco into the next category where it could run against the patrol.
but then the disco was also in the luxury category.
these comparisons bore me to tears, but i guess i&#39;m gonna have to read it to try to find out WTF they did things that way

G&#39;day Ron,
The Disco was chucked into the Large category because that&#39;s how it is categorised by VFACTS. Weird, I know, but that&#39;s why.
The article was an opinion of each class and when you get to read it you&#39;ll see that no vehicle scored a "clean sweep" of judge&#39;s opinions. And, the Disco wasn&#39;t in the Luxury category, although in HSE form it definitely wouldn&#39;t be embarassed&#33;
I agree with other comments - if everybody liked the same thing it would be a very boring world.
In terms of comparos - the Disco TDV6 was pitted against Patrol (3.0-litre), Cruiser 4.2TD and Prado TD in 4X4 Australia&#39;s June 2005 issue. And, it blitzed the field.
cheers,
Juz

got it covered, it&#39;s called a bloody big 17.2 hand cart horse
OK, well it&#39;s actually SWMBO&#39;s Warmblood dressage horse, but the Germans used to use &#39;em as carriage gorses, so he&#39;ll do.
