I think Ron Moon is entitled to his opinion, he just seems to have a higher pedestal to shout that opinion from.

I'm involved in a 4WD club with a variety of fourbies, Japs, Jeeps, Landies the lot. I enjoy th banter and take as much as I dish out. What I do find alarming is how many people who have never owned a Land Rover is under the impression they are unreliable .. and the sad thing is no matter how much I promote Land Rover .. they will not be convinced otherwise and as a result will "never" own one! I'd love to know how that rumour was started ... perhaps Ron is correct in that we are more likely to discuss the faults of our landies.

G'day Ron,
The Disco was chucked into the Large category because that's how it is categorised by VFACTS. Weird, I know, but that's why.
The article was an opinion of each class and when you get to read it you'll see that no vehicle scored a "clean sweep" of judge's opinions. And, the Disco wasn't in the Luxury category, although in HSE form it definitely wouldn't be embarassed!
I agree with other comments - if everybody liked the same thing it would be a very boring world.
In terms of comparos - the Disco TDV6 was pitted against Patrol (3.0-litre), Cruiser 4.2TD and Prado TD in 4X4 Australia's June 2005 issue. And, it blitzed the field.
cheers,

The silliest part about the consistency of "large" and "luxury" in this magazine is that the D3 is shown as leader in Luxury class for sales It doesn't rate in the Large class where Patrol, Crusier and Explorer are rated. So what's up Doc

Thanks Mick, but I couldn't go over to the Nissan version of AULRO and get stuck in.

Ron moon might abuse his position of standing in the 4WD world to advertise for Nissan, but it's not the Nissan driving public's fault.

No I'd only go onto a mag forum if they had one.

I pity da fools that own Nissans!

Sorry, Chris, but you are thinking of Overlander magazine, which does indeed have the Disco listed at the top of the "Luxury" section.
4X4 Australia has Top 20 Sales Outright, Top 20 Wagons and Top 10 utes in its "Numbers Crunched" section.
It has no Luxury section.
I don't mean to sound rude or condescending, but hopefully that answers your question.
cheers,
Juz
