Heritage-listed Binna Burra Lodge in Gold Coast hinterland destroyed in Queensland bushfires - ABC News (Australian Broadcasting Corporation)

I can report the Gold Coast is blanketed in smoke. We're at the Exhibition and Convention Centre with students competing in the Queensland Cheer and Dance Championships (which is very vigorous - makes an old bloke like me feel tired just watching).
Looking out the glass walls I can see the smoke covering the coast. Really feel for the people out there in the hills.

There was a lot of history in there. Art, photos, magazines, nick knacks etc. We honeymooned there and have been back a few times. I'm hoping that some things were able to be removed last week.

The town of Linville is now under "Leave Now" status! Not looking good there.

Water bombers eased the situation a little. Still not good.

Never been this bad this early in Spring in recorded history. I'm wondering whether we have enough fire fighters to get through the summer.

Some times the aftermath can be as distressing as the fire.

Police are speaking to a number of teenagers over a fire that has destroyed at least one home and damaged up to 10 at Peregian Beach on Queensland's Sunshine Coast overnight, and continues to burn out of control.
Residents at Peregian Beach, Marcus Beach and Peregian Breeze Estate are being told to leave immediately and for anyone outside the zone to avoid travelling to the area.
Peregian Springs is now at a "watch and act" level and residents being told to prepare to leave.
Peregian Beach residents should evacuate in a northerly direction towards Noosa.
A "watch and act" warning is also in place for residents at Weyba, Castaways Beach, Sunrise Beach, Sunshine Beach and Noosa Springs.

EDIT. Sunshine Coast bushfire emergency continues as residents flee fire at Peregian

I haven't slept all night as I have a rental property at Peregian. About to head up there now to see if I can get into the area.

I keep hearing conflicting reports about damage in the area.

If it is arson, those little ****ers had better not get in my way.
