But those specs are so out of date, and with Australia's very mild winters...

(Damn, I've been trying to avoid getting involved in another oil thread...Too cheap? Just me??Too cheap? Just me??Too cheap? Just me??)

Thanks Rick. My point was not so much the actual spec but the 5 ( rather than 15) grade with the OP showing Melbourne as location.

But even in a Melbourne winter there isn't much difference between a 5w and 15w at start up.

But I didn't say that!! Too cheap? Just me??

When I purchased my Td5 I was looking for what oil to use., I posted on here about Gulf Western.

After much discussion with Rick 130, who appears to be very knowledgeable on oils, I have no issues with using it.
    Dave.

I was asked " Is it ignorance or apathy?" I replied "I don't know and I don't care."

Repco have Penrite on a sort of special atm. If you have RACV or whatever state you're in it's better. But, GW is good oil I guess, and if it's only for one service and $$ matters I can't really see a problem. But I'd stick with Penrite in a perfect world. Oh wait, in a perfect world I wouldn't be servicing a TD5.
