    Help needed in Wollongong

    Evening all,
A mate of mine in Wollongong - who has no mechanical skills - has had a bingle in his D1. The damage is to the PS front guard and headlight area. Not his fault but the insrance payout is not enough to cover the repair quote he has. The D1 has a lot of sentimental value and he'd like to keep it on the road, and he certainly doesn't want to scrap it. I have removed the damaged guard, bumper etc and got replacement parts from a wrecker, whilst on a visit from Melbourne. These are with the car. The strengthening rib along the inner guard needs to be removed, repared and rewelded, and there is some other welding to do to insert the headlight support.

My mate doesn't have much in the way of tools and certainly doesn't have a welder. I do, but getting them to Wollongong requires a road trip and I am too busy at work at the moment to do this. I can however fly up and spend a weekend in Wollongong. So the question: is there anyone in Wollongong or close by who could lend us a shed, some tools and a welder for a weekend in the near future? As an alternative, can anyone suggest someone who can do the underlying repairs requiring welding without charging a fortune, and I'll rehang the outer panels?
    Thanks and Regards,
    Alan

    Lets start with photos...

theres an amazing amount of repair work that can be "talked through" if theres enough photos patients and willingness to listen and learn on the fly.

A basic set of tooling that will be adequate for a one off repair can be had for the sub 200 bracket and most of them will survive enough to be useful again. (when you break a bit you replace it with a better one if you're keeping the kit)

Parts is likely to be the hang up if the budget is too tight but if it not too tight, perhaps consider shipping the car and then driving it back.

I have the tools and a welder, don't have much of a shed though, have a spot you can do the work(in the open) or you can borrow what you need.

I'm just up the road(20mins) from the Gong, won't be there this weekend though as I'm riding down to the MotoGP and won't be back till the following Friday.
