Me and the cheese'n'kisses are coming down to Adelaide from 24-29 December.
We'd love somewhere near a beach if affordable (for walking etc not swimming), but otherwise maybe somewhere not far from a suburb called Toorak Gardens? which is where her parents live.
We visited somewhere last time I was there, I think might have been in Glenelg - had a Yiros place which was awesome. Hope that's open.
Wanna get something locked in soon-ish given it's the Christmas period.
Suggestions welcome![]()
Also it might be hard for Christmas but want to maybe just go to a café or something for lunch that day, take her folks.

Lob on 4Bee's doorstep. I'm sure Des would be happy to wait on you hand, foot and finger.
While you're down there, allocate a day in Hahndorf. Worth considering for Christmas Day, if anything is open.

glenelg, west beach, henley beach, grange.

Ta,
yeah had considered Hahndorf but this being the major factor that concerns me "if anything is open".
Plus I'm unsure if we'll be able to borrow a car from Chrissy's parents as they might have reduced from two cars down to one.
So that leaves us with a conundrum as to where/what car to rent at affordable rates too.

Google Rent a Wreck, mate.

haha well you can be relieved because the missus (an Adelaidian herself) says she doesn't want to do that as she's been to Hahndorf a million times.
Car wise - found it was cheaper than I thought it would be. I wonder if a Mitsu ASX would be tolerable for 4-5 days LOL

I grew up in the western suburbs of Adelaide .... but its been 25 years since I lived there. There used to be a place called "Lamb Spit" in Jetty Rd, Glenelg which was good for a feed after a session a Lennies Tavern ... but I'm not sure it exists any more. Sounds like the tradition of great Greek Lamb Yiros is carried on down the road at Makis Yiros (http://www.makisyiros.com.au). The other go to location for Lamb Yiros in the day was the west end Hindley St in the city - couldn't name the spots though - too long ago.
Not sure what sort of accommodation you're after ... Glenelg probably has the most 'hotel' options along the coast, and its a pretty easy run up ANZAC Highway and then Greenhill Road up to Toorak Gardens ... probably a 15km, 20-25 minute drive on a good run - worse in peak hour. Close to the Airport assuming your flying in. It would be the most 'lively' place to be. Henley Beach also a good option, although slightly more difficult to get across town to Toorak Gardens.
Again, further away again from Toorak Gardens, and I've never stayed there, but Largs Pier Hotel is an impressive building right on the beach. http://largspierhotel.com.au
Looks nice but a little more then we were hoping to spend if possible.
What about in town itself anyone know good options there? Obviously there will be plenty of options but perhaps some are reknown as better than others value wise?
