Here’s a good compilation for those not familiar with it. I bet the truck rental roof repair company in town will go broke now... 😁
Well after nearly 12 years and 148 documented crashes by stupid people that can’t read or don’t know what height their vehicles are, the world famous 11’ 8 bridge - aka ‘The can opener’ is being raised by 8”...
Will miss the carnage but there are lots of happy times to look back on.

Begs the question. As trucks are allowed 14' height, why is the bridge not being raised to 15'?

I though the same thing. He says on the video they are raising it to align it to the crossing further down, but I wouldn’t have thought the extra would have effected the overall grade too much, but not sure what’s in the other direction - there may be something prohibiting this. I wouldn’t have thought it would be too hard to lower the road a bit either.

Hey........ location, location.
Some countries have an internal 'understanding' that there are way more economic benefits to be had, spread far and wide across the community for many generations to come IF and only IF you never solve the root cause of the problem.
Not my way of working, but it is rampant.

Bah! .. I reckon the Montague St bridge kills it for No. of victims.
Probably scores 148 per day!

How the bus crashed into it(Montague) is one of those unexplained paranormal-alien encounter-Elvis sighting type stories ... no one will ever make sense of it.

I think the issue with bridge strikes is poor signage. Perhaps this would be more effective.

If you don't like trucks, stop buying stuff.
I do like the Montague Street bridge, and I drive under that one almost daily and it does a good job, but it’s a lightweight compared to 11’8 which on average scores over one victim a month. I agree about that bus though, that is unexplained given the drivers eye level would have almost have at the same level as the beam he ran into. 😁

Why don't they just hang a bar or chains across the road 50m prior to the bridge. Similar to the entrances on some shopping centre carparks.
between 1988 - 2009 when I was a courier(mostly), seemed like an every day event that someone ran into it.
You'd hear the call over the two way ... "Montague Bridge!" which simply meant another one .. so avoid.
We had a sub base(small warehouse) not far from it, and getting there via Montague St was a >10x a day drive.
