    This is how we thank our volunteer bushfire fighters?

    Now our volunteer fire fighters are being attacked.


    First off, last week the Greens parade out this rather dubious “woman” who claims that when the volunteer fire fighters putout the fires and go home, they will bash the wives.


    But it gets worse.


    Now the Queensland government is accusing them all of being potential child molesters, and they all must submit a Blue Card application form by December 1, or they will not be allowed to fight bushfires?

    Here I was, thinking we lived in Australia, but no, the USSR is alive and well in Queensland.

    These people put their lives on the line and are then branded as being child molesters until such times the they can prove they are not!

    This is just sickening!

    I have no issue with it. When I became an EMS volly +/- 30 years ago we had a police check. Had a number subsequently with each promotion.
    Vollies are just ordinary people, not angels. Many jobs require police checks pre-appointment.
    Anyone working at airports or waterside need a MSIC clearance from the Feds, even couriers and truck drivers.
    If you don't like trucks, stop buying stuff.

    All our staff have to have a police check to contract to the Qld Government.

    And we pay for it ourselves.

    Even though we all have been checked and cleared by Correctional services,every 12 months,by more than one Correctional services facility,as each centre does its own checking.

    they come into contact with kids...

    it's all well and good except the volunteers have to pay for the card and renewals etc.. i think that is a bit rich when the only reason they need to get it is you volunteer for ses or rfs etc etc etc

    fair enough they pay if they earn income from having a card...

    Yes, but I have done a police check and a wwc check, two completely different things on paper as far as I am aware
