What a bizarre article - so only the right wing are allowed to run political campaigns? And there's not a skerrick of evidence provided even pointing towards what the article is supposedly about.

Edit: Oh, it's that enquiry - the one that the Prime Minister gifted to Pauline Hanson - and which was therefore manipulated from the start. And which will add nothing of substance that the Australian Law Reform Commission hasn't already dealt with. The issue is that everybody knows what needs to be done to fix the Family Court, the government just isn't providing the money to do it. And merging it with the Federal Magistrates will not help.

I've had a Blue Card, as it's called here, for nine years. It's a common requirement for anyone who might contact children in their work. Everyone who works at a school, even the gardeners and tradies who come into the site, have to have it as a condition of employment.
Employers have always paid for mine. I certainly think volunteer fire fighters should have the charge waived. Huge respect to them too.
Let's think about why a Blue Card check might be required. It flags if a person has a conviction relating to children. Do we want to let convicted child molesters join the RFS? I don't think so.
The police check could also have other benefits. It might stop people convicted of lighting bush fires from joining the RFS. Wouldn't that be a good thing?
What about people convicted of burglary? Do we want to let thieves join the RFS and go into abandoned homes and steal stuff?
Dangerous drivers: do we want convicted hoons racing around in fire trucks?
I'm sure we could think of other examples.

Yep doesn’t matter where you look, the REAL facts just no longer mean a thing. The bigger the B/S, the more coverage it gets.

The issue still comes back to how low many of these people can go, to discredit the very people who are actually doing something to help and protect others

The greatest culprits in the spreading of disinformation is the press itself.

Why can’t they do what they are supposed to do and REPORT the news, not invent it.

Unrelated to RFS but I heard someone say once

"If you dont read the newspaper you're uninformed.
If you read the newspaper you're misinformed."

Seems to be fairly accurate for a lot of news media outlets...
