The other thing I love about E-mags is the hours of entertainment it gives me in cracking and removing the DRM. So frankly I get a double bonus from them.

I'm happy to pay for content (once), but when I have to pay to watch it on my TV, then again on my iDevice, and again on my Laptop I prefer to "buy it once and use it everywhere".

Same goes for the VHS copies I paid top dollar for in the 90's. I don't really want to buy it again on DVD, then again on Blu-Ray (except perhaps Fawlty Towers. I know John Cleese has more alimony to pay).

Many of the digital media mags can be accessed for free via membership of your local library, here in WA at least.

My library membership details allow me to register with RB Digital online, you get access to a wide selection of up to date mainstream magazines (I do mean popular and expensive monthly titles) from Aus and overseas. You can download to tablet and read off line as well as on your PC. I travel a fair bit for work and it provides a huge diverse selection of reading material, that if you had to pay for you would never see. Recommend you check it out. Cheers.

Yes, libraries are a good source of magazines. And you can log in from home thru the library website.
E mags do have a lot of advantages though.

Mike, not sure if you are taking the P... on this subject here or being serious

In any case, I bought the material I valued on VHS back then and got burned on that too.

Just imagine, if I were a tad bit older... I would've bought my crap on beta first, then had to switch to vhs, then dvd came along with it's usual bad VHS transfers (mostly). Blu-ray popped around and this time they had to actually remaster stuff (35mm film can handle 8k, very simplistically speaking) so I am pretty sure they did it in 8k straight away and sold me HD first.
You know where this is going right? :P the 4k release many years later is a cheap churn out and so will the 8k be before there is no more give in the source material.
Sure, good for the economy and I do not mind paying the bloke who put it ON the bloody medium, but paying the "rights" very single time? No way.

I would not mind a bit of a recession, the bloody roads are way to congested over here

    Cheers!

Steane and David publish the mag, I just write for them occasionally. How do you feel about digital magazines?
