How you can tell when there has been good rain in the west, from the Betoota Advocate.

I’m pretty sure the dinosaurs died out when they stopped gathering food and started having meetings to discuss gathering food

A bookshop is one of the only pieces of evidence we have that people are still thinking

I also removed the centre bung from the top hatch on the tanks so they are able to "vent" when filling to allow for a faster fill, We don't get "Cyclonic" downpours here more is the pity.
I also covered up the holes with mossie mesh to stop the little blighters getting into the tanks.
Its a project in progress and I will revisit this thread after the first rains to update it
That's good. Have you tried using some water clarifier in the tanks to maintain good quality? I treated one of our tanks today.

At last , we had heavy rain all night , not sure how much but the pool which I was thinking of toping up yesterday is now almost over flowing , would have come up a good 6 to 8 inches. Guess I will have to pump some out if we are going to get some more , don't want he salt water over flowing into the garden. We got our water a/c yesterday $500 at least now the tanks are full I can top the pool from them instead of the tap. We have been loosing 50mm a week through evaporation so having to top up every couple of weeks.

73.92 mm here to 0830. Dam has come up about a foot (good catchment), top shed tank @ 22,700 l, two house tanks @ 22,700 l ea. and granny flat tank @ 6,500 l are just overflowing and both 22,700 l tanks off the bottom shed at around four fifths full.

Without being too greedy, another 200-300 mm would be good for the dam.

So if you get a metear and 300mm is flowing over the spillway due to inflow, is not the damn a percentage overfull?

If my taynk is 22,700 leeterz and there's water entering via the downpipe and exiting the overflow, it can still only hold the 5,000 gals.

I pumped about 150mm of water out of the pool on Sunday to make room for the predicted rain , hasn't rained since
