Agree with dead animal in roof space. The flies come from there into your room via light fittings etc, either on the wing or wriggling as maggots dropping through the gaps

I had the same problem once. I have determined that, when no one is looking, they must "spontaneously instantiate themselves". A bit like how the universe came into existance.

When all other logical explainations are ruled out, then whatever explanation remains, however improbable, must be accepted.

Fly swats (or is that swat’s?) are cheap, organic and incredibly satisfying...

Here is what I found at 6pm today after being out all day. 20191212_182916.jpg I have swept them all up after spraying & will see what appears through the night. The only place I can think they could get in from the ceiling is through the down lights. Years ago when we had a slow combustion heater in the rumpus room we started getting paper wasps in the room & they had built a nest about 100mm dia in the flue & entering between the flue & the surround on the ceiling. We took the fire place out when we did our renovations & replaced all the ceiling.
So no TV for me tonight I will be watching FLIES. You happy now.

Well there still comming . I just had a friend here who is a roofing guy who lives about 1km away from me & was telling him & he has the same problem hundreds of the little buggers & he was thinking the same thing something dead in the ceiling but can't work out how they are getting from the roof cavity into the house.
I have looked at all our lights & they can't be coming through them they are sealed with no gaps. The only other place I can think of is under the kitchen cupboards something has died but one would think if there were maggots it would have got to the point were we would be able to smell it.
