Wayne Wayne wayne- White powder anti inflammatory? Security heavy handed? No one except media to the RSL event?
Deny, deny, deny’: Carey’s book comes back to haunt him
A passage from Wayne Carey’s 2009 autobiography has been unearthed on social media, as Channel 7 weighs up the AFL great’s future at the network.
I think He might be grumpy [biggrin]
Crown boss hits back at Wayne Carey’s casino claims over white powder incident Link
I'm grumpy because I am a customer of Optus and Medibank, but maybe I should look on the bright side, if I ever need my driver's licence, Medicare card no., passport no., etc I can probably just google it!
"A new study of climate models finds that this strengthening happening is decades ahead of schedule."
grumpy if this means its much wetter or much drier much of the time[tonguewink]
"The study finds that Australia particularly needs to prepare for more floods and drought and the entire world face must be prepared for affects on human health, food production, global economies, and more
"Our findings should be incorporated into policies and strategies to adapt to climate change," writes Cai. "And crucially, they add to the weight of evidence pointing to the urgent need to reduce greenhouse gas emissions to stabilise Earth’s climate.""

Geez, there'd be some grumpy people around if everything was incorporated for nought!
Below is from 2008/9
"Some of the models suggest to Dr. (Wieslav) Maslowski that there is a 75% chance that the entire north polar ice cap, during some of the summer months, could be completely ice-free within the next five to seven years."
Isn't 'Modelling' just a fashionable term for 'Conjecture'?
"A conjecture is a mathematical statement that has not yet been rigorously proved. Conjectures arise when one notices a pattern that holds true for many cases. However, just because a pattern holds true for many cases does not mean that the pattern will hold true for all cases. Conjectures must be proved for the mathematical observation to be fully accepted. When a conjecture is rigorously proved, it becomes a theorem."
By, the way, I have a rellie, whose occupation requires him to be much learned in the way of the Earth sciences. This erudite gentleman has explained to me a lot of facts re: Climate Change, so I am a believer.
Fair point Saitch.
"Glaciers in a third of World Heritage Sites are on course to melt away by 2050, according to new research.
A major global study has found that climate change is causing the collapse of these giant flows of ice. But, even if we were to curb emissions now, iconic glaciers from the Dolomites to Yosemite are still set to disappear due to the volume of greenhouse gases humans have released.
"
How much here and now? "UNESCO-protected glaciers are losing 58 billion tonnes of ice every year"
That's measured losses not conjecture or forecast. The long and short of it is "“Glacier melting can temporarily provide a positive impact as there will be more water released from glacial storage. However, in the long-term, annual runoff will be reduced as glaciers shrink.
“Such decrease in glacier runoff is likely to have negative impacts on agricultural production and food security and result in water stress that could be exacerbated by increasing demand for water due to expanding farmland to feed a growing population.”

Northern hemisphere problem? [bighmmm] water wars?
Or our neighbors "Spring came early this year in the high mountains of Gilgit-Baltistan, a remote border region of Pakistan. Record temperatures in March and April hastened melting of the Shisper Glacier, creating a lake that swelled and, on May 7, burst through an ice dam. A torrent of water and debris flooded the valley below, damaging fields and houses, wrecking two power plants, and washing away parts of the main highway and a bridge connecting Pakistan and China.
Pakistan’s climate change minister, Sherry Rehman, tweeted videos of the destruction and highlighted the vulnerability of a region with the largest number of glaciers outside the Earth’s poles. Why were these glaciers losing mass so quickly? Rehman put it succinctly. “High global temperatures,” she said.

Thank Goodness they 'model into the past' when checking. ! Noticed a Skynews reference, of a Roman - built road, newly uncovered by melting ice/glacier/snow in a hitherto frozen location in the Swiss Alps....
- Perish the notion that Waaaaay back then the climate was warm enough to build a road.... which was since frozen under...and now exposed by... Global Warming.
- NOT "Climate Change" which is the new euphamism to explain those awkward Low temperatures
- Which suggests the stories of Roman Vineyards in middle of England maybe not so silly.
