My dad had a soft drink company in Central Vic 7X beverages. He and a mate made home brew from our sweet tank water. My mother just reminded me she arranged for town water to be run past our farm. After it was connected the several tanks of home brew were found to be that bad it was all give to me. I was about 10 years old honest!

I soaked wheat in the beer and fed it to my pig Matilda. She got drunk a few times not me promise

I paid for Matilda with gold I panned in our dam. I collected the dirt on my horse and brought it back to pan it. She gave me 30 piglets which gave me about $80 each at that time

About an ounce of my gold was in a little jar which my little sister thought would be good for something else. She tipped my gold into the sink!

There's tank water and then there's tank water. I used to brew, long ago ( first marriage, which is possibly why I drank ), and we had an old corry tank that looked awful from the outside, but made the best beer, wrigglers and all. When we moved there was a concrete tank. Beer was still good but not the same. A tree root finished that tank and the landlord replaced it with a plastic one*. Forget about brewing with those. I suppose they may be ok if you hadn't tried the others, but it was never the same. Not that I was a master brewer or anything, but I learned to be consistent. If I still drank the price of beer now would have me doing it again. Mains water here is pretty good.

*Plastic tanks were very new then. I'd never seen one before. This was before the whole food grade polymer stuff. They may be much better now.

We are on tank water at home, but it makes an awful brew with all the bloodwood leaves, bird droppings and the rest of the muck up there so I drive into Bundaberg (about 25 ks away) and fill a 200 litre tank. I have a bit of a theory that Coopers make their brew packs to suit hard town water.

Possum crap and wrigglers just add piquancy. But in those days I used hops, malt etc. Possibly covered up a few things. Probably wouldn't touch the stuff now even if I still drank.
