I too appreciate a good barrow,
I like wooden handles, less flex, and with linseed or old sump oil have lasted decades.
And of course, following my father's instructions, it is not full until you can't lift it
My barrow came with our first house and I suspect it was used in the build about 1946.
It is a pipe frame and has a tad wider handles than other barrows I've used. I wore out the tray when building/landscaping this house .
My son bought me a shiny new one , but I gave it back to him, it didn't fit my stance.
I've replaced the tray with a hand made galvanized one by a sheet metal worker, and am on my third tyre and second set of bearings and second set of grips.
It still gets a bit of use.
Cheers

Phone went off at 5.30. 10 plus CFA on the job shortly after. Report any dick head arsonist- firebug- tossers please.
PS Running along the beach and a swim after that and a coffee keeps me from adding something really grumpy![]()
Check the locals' bed sheets, I've heard that arsonists are often bed wetters.
If you don't like trucks, stop buying stuff.
They would be if those who lost houses, cattle, sheep, horses, shearing sheds and more find them before the police do Ian!
Moving to the fire station here shortly. Ill water the new plants for a while.
Keep safe if your in a risk area today all! Fires are already impacting on some areas here in Mexico. A smaller one near Mallacoota must be causing kittens! The big one north of an area that was devastated 10 years ago is out of control before the expected high winds impact.
Edit- Mansfield evacuation site is about to be evaluated.
Edit 2 Winds are now picking up

As some will know, my area is a "high risk" area for bushfires. Today it's going to be warm, 40° and windy. Some of the horses are becoming restless. Next door have abandoned ship and headed for a shopping mall ( can't think of anything worse, myself ) to be cool and safe. So, is today a TFB?? Our wonderful rulers have a website, actually more than one, to relay such snippets. It's not working. Yay. Maybe the batteries are flat. My local, steam powered and volunteer operated CFA station has its own, non Govt site. Yes, it's working... and yes, today is a TFB for all of Victoria.
All the pollies and top bureaucrats are probably lying on a beach somewhere.
And yes, common sense would suggest that doing something with a grinder, chainsaw, welder or lawnmower etc would not be neighbourly today, but I've found common sense to be uncommon these days.

Hi,
I think the heat has passed north of us this time. Still cool and cloudy, but I think we still have a fire ban. The heat a couple of days ago was verging on discomfort in direct sun, but in the shade the air was still cool .
No way could I live on the mainland again .
Cheers
Hi,
July is a tad cooler than August and about 9 hours of daylight.
Cheers![]()
