    Butter up Woolies

Farmers angry as Woolworths imports US butter in green and gold packaging

Farmers angry as Woolworths imports US butter in green and gold packaging - ABC News
Why and how is my question. "Hillview is cheaper because it’s imported US dairy benefiting from lower production costs and tariff-free access to Australia and the US dairy often comes from feedlot cattle fed grain and chemical production boosters. This system is cheaper than Australia’s pasture-based dairy farming, which relies on higher animal welfare and stricter production standards."

MOO Fresh food people? Missed by several thousand miles !

I'm glad you posted this, ND. Feedlot, grain fed is red rag to a bull ( pun?) to me. The grain they feed them is actually terrible, and they can't feed it directly to us as we can't digest it. They also fill the feed with hormones and antibiotics, which pass straight through and wind up in our "food", which is just fantastic for someone, like me, with a hormone sensitive cancer. It's hard enough finding guaranteed pasture fed beef, and I simply cannot eat chicken or pork, regardless of what's on the label, because of the drugs they are fed. And don't mention "organic". These days, if I have to read the fine print on a label I won't touch it. They don't care, of course, as long as it makes $$$

The tenants up the street put their general waste bin out last week overfull, so the truck didn't take it, as if it spills the driver has to pick it up. Due to the lid not closing stuff fell out and blew along the street with 6 items ending up in my yard. They didn't bother cleaning up outside their yard this weekend when they should've had plenty of time to even hold a house meeting and make a joint effort, so early this morning I put the six items from my yard in their postbox.

People that used to be across the road from me did that. It wasn't the wind though, it was the crows and cockies. They would at least clean it up, if it was mentioned. They got a missive from the council, who wouldn't pick up their green bin. They would always overfill the normal bin, so she took to putting things like disposable nappies in the green one... No, L***, they are NOT biodegradable. And in the case of the toddler, I'm not sure his waste was either. You needed a hazmat suit.
