I always understood that AMPOL was an acronym for the Australian Motorists Petrol and Oil Company. Does anyone know if this correct and was it ever actually Australian-owned ?

A point of minor historical interest is that, in NSW, at least some of the now-disused underground and camouflaged petrol storages adjacent to, or close to, defence establishments were in AMPOL ownership by the 1960s. The sites I know of were away from the town, close to railways and had their own sidings (for fuel delivery), and were picked up by Caltex in their takeover.

Oh yeah? When was the last time the Console Operator got off their arse came out, saluted you in their nice Peaked Cap & looked at your massive tits with obvious nipples on display?

    Yeah thought so, Ian.

Will they resurrect the "Get a tiger in your tank" slogan?
.....and not just the slogan but the next to real thing fake fur appendage floating in the breeze at 45MPH.

Esso are here in production only, we import and transport a lot of refinery gear for them down to Sale Vic.

Yeah! I'll be able to use my old road maps again without fear of ridicule.

Great maps, but I wonder if you might get lost because the roads have changed.

My local Caltex will be ticked off - a few months ago, they just finished a renovation of the place, including all new signage, right around the whole site.
If you need to contact me please email homestarrunnerau@gmail.com - thanks - Gav.
