An arsonist is a person who deliberately sets fire to a building or vehicle.
The key word here is "deliberately" The above don't fit the criteria.

    Hardly "unwitting"

    not done on purpose; unintentional.
"we are anxious to rectify the unwitting mistakes made in the past"

Emergency warnings for Creewah and Bredbo. There are fears the Creewah fire, Big Jack mountain fire and Postmans Trail fires could join up to create one big fire Residents told to take cover, too late to leave.

Emergency warnings for bushfires near Creewah and Bredbo as temperatures peak

It appears that the Currawan Fire, which started late last year and which became the Clyde Mountain Fire is just about to join the fire that started as the Badja Forest Rd Fire.
That is happening about 25km NW of Tuross and about 10km WNW of Moruya.
Things seem to be pretty quiet down near Potato Point.

It is quiet, but still on alert. The big danger for us is the fire around Brou Lake when the southerly comes through later tonight. We've been so lucky with the resources that have been put in over the last week or so. So many Cat 1s from all over the state and even had the big water bomber dropping pink retardant. Our local Fireys , have keep us up to date with all the work they have all put in and they are saying that, unless something unforseen happens, we should be OK. Fingers crossed, as well as toes and anything else we can manage.

Sorry lads, but this feels quite bizarre.

You speak of fires still going, all over the shop, inc Kangaroo Island here. ( No that is not finished yet.)

We had the heat 40s+ & smoke around New Year & for the past couple of weeks we have really had fantastic weather & atm it is 15.5c & have had a shed load of heavy rain & tanks are nearly full so it feels quite odd to realise that parts of Australia are still burning. More rain is forecast.

It is a weird country we live in to be sure.

One day soon we will all get the big OK. No really.

    Until then, keep smiling.

To all in harms way, we are thinking of you. petty arguments over climate change seem ridiculous at times like this. Let's wait until every one is safe, and it is all over, then Australia can have the conversation that is necessary.

If all the ducks line up, the ACT fire could break containment lines.

Canberra should be OK provided there are no strong winds from the south. And, if the forecast is right, there won't be.
