Peelers, Prods, Brits and British security forces also use it in a derogatory manner to Irish people or supporters, i.e. "you Fenian bastard"

The term derives from the Irish Na Fianna or Na Fianna Eireann who in Celtic mythology were a band of warriors formed to protect Ireland, Fionn Mac Cumhaill (Finn McCool) being the most famous of its warriors.

Eel refers to a pathetic/pathological love the user has for the footy team the Parramatta Eels. This term is also used in a derogatory manner by supporters of the Eels "those F%)^)^&& Eels give me the $%(^(" and also by supporters of better teams (at the present there are currently 13 of them). i.e. "The Eels - ha ha ha - they suck". Unfortunately at the time of writing - even the most subjective reader would have to agree

Thus FENIAN + EEL = ME!
PS It's pronounced FEEN E AN

Hmmm... my name... well Captain Lightfoot was a Victorian bushranger ... and I would love to visit the Vic high country one day.

As to the switch to rightfoot... fairly obvious... most of my car friends know that when we go for a nice drive in the country If I find myself in a car I enjoy driving it usually means I try and keep the rightfoot pretty much planted..

There are numerous stories in the MINI club of a stock S with wife and baby hurrying other drivers in "works" MINI's

Interestingly, I seem to enjoy just pottering around in the fender

so, (i know this will not be taken in jest so i'll insert a smiley to reinforce my intention to "take the ****" in a light hearted way) i take it you felt so strongly about the british rule in ireland that you moved to australia?

there is a local band in sydney called Finn McCool. country/swing/rock, funny bastards. usually turn up in tamworth each year at festival time.
