True: Accomodation was spartan and treatment was appalling. Still a lovely place to be locked up and treated appallingly.
    Cheers, Billy.

Yes they should BUT they shouldn't get Any special treatment as they were quite willing to travel to COV19 infected countries AFTER the National border restrictions were put in place.

As far as I am concerned Anyone who has travelled to COV19 countries in the last 12 months have little to whinge about because of restrictions regarding returning to Australia.
They were quite willing to travel and risk the health and welfare of other Australians upon their return So just Why should we all feel bad about them having difficulties wanting to come home.

If I recall correctly, kiwis who left NZ in the last while have had to pay full cost for managed isolation and quarantine (MIQ) on their return vs a subsidised cost for other kiwis returning to NZ after many years overseas (repatriating).

Our Ministry of Health has just recently released the first batch of overdue invoices for debt collection. The only protest in the media was "what took so long?"

Whilst there is a case for people being responsible for their actions when leaving the country and maybe for paying for the cost of their Quarantine if it is subsidised, people's circumstances vary. How would you deal with this situation India COVID: Second Australian man dies after contracting COVID-19

The brother was in India looking after aging partents who have no righs to come to Australia, the brother dies along with the mother from Covid and now the other brother is (notionally) banned from leaving with an octogenarian father alone in India to look after remotely. When proposing a hard line approach to people leaving it is an interesting exercise to reflect on how you would deal with an awful situation like the one described.
Of course there is the other end of the scale with the well publicised story of the bloke who went overseas for a wedding......

With regard to Quarantine subsidisation in NSW at least, I'm not sure there is very much going on. A single adult is charged $3000.00 for a 14 day stay in a hotel. The government rates in hotels in Sydney are usually just under $200 per night, leaving a couple of hundred dollars for food, however considering the contracts for quarantine hotels would have been written when the hotels had virtually no guests I'm guessing the rates may have been negotiated well below the $200 per night level.

A friend had her shot early in the week and reported some good reactions too.
She was a lot better the second day, but
    her arm is still sore.
