Mmm..true but revolt comes from the middle class so best to keep them sweet.

Looks like Centrelink might be the focal point of any revolt! Shows how staff cuts and inadequate systems eg NBN fibre to the node come back to bite dumb governments.

Relative works for the Link and says the IT system has been broke for years and staff cuts mean they can't manage normal work nevermind another million claims. Fed recruitment processes also takes months to get anyone appointed.

Nevermind the pollies have run for cover for 5 months now. They'll be OK😐

Tassie is turning back nomads seeking to bunker down here as there's been an increase in shed draggers bookings lately and public health can't keep track of them in the State. Looks like the Vic high country is going to be v busy😎

Just heard on the radio that the virus is now spreading rapidly into regional Victoria, there doesn't seem to be any way of stopping it. Also Worldwide, infections & deaths are increasing as we speak. So, has anybody thought how this is could end up? The only comment I can make is that I'm frightened, very frightened, but I'm very lucky in that, like many of you, I have a loving wife to be with me.
Also I'm finding that many things that I took for granted, home, past holidays, many things that I just took for granted, are now very large in my eyes.
Just wondering whether or not I have any common ground with other forum members who may feel a bit like this.
    Keep safe, Pickles.
Mate. If the media is causing you such anxiety you need to limit your exposure for sake of your mental health.

    How this ends up....
lots, like 2/3rds of the population end up contracting the virus.
Of this 20,000,000 people who contract it, expect at least 10,000 to pass away from complications arising from it. The rest will go on to recover and go about their newly influenced lives.

This is the current reality, and one which will change many people for quite a while.

All we can do is minimise our exposure, take precautionary measures, and ride it out. Frightened won’t help. Cautious and responsible will.

Personally, I thought it would be WW3 or Civil War that I’d be seeing this decade.

A couple of brushes close to the wind health-wise and a good dose of beta-blockers helps take the panic off things. Pragmatism becomes a fun philosophical word to play with and act on.

I worked for Tas Health for 30 years and I am v worried if this gets big here as the system can't cope due to repeated cuts. Our Premier eg cut 1.7 million from public health within one week of coming to power as Treasurer some years ago. The new hospital wing is understaffed and has structural and system problems. In a crisis over 60s will be triaged...ie left to fend for themselves at home most likely. 2000 ventilators in Aus won't go far afterall.

Wife's relative in UK is a GP..hubby a surgeon and they are ****ting themselves already and the peak is yet to come. At least the Libs have not totally privatised health here yet..unlike the USA. So there's still hope we can get thru this with fewer deaths.

    Yes..be worried!

Something odd in those numbers...? Not sure how you figured this based on numbers elsewhere unless you have unstated assumptions.

The Seegene Covid 19 and respiratory virus kits (Seegene Inc) are being used in Australia by the largest private pathology laboratory and some of the public hospitals. There are problems obtaining the kits quickly enough with the restrictions on international travel and because the kits are automated there is a lack of instrumentation for the quantity of samples. The Seegene factory is working 24/7 to produce both kits. Integrated Sciences Pty Ltd

( Speaking of which, a South Korean company 'Seegene' has an automated, multiple-test kit. Yes, you guessed it, selling by the 10x thousands to the Middle East, yet "not approved" for too long by the US FDA / CDC. )

Think of a see-saw. Apply it to the two ends of a disease outbreak. Everything hinges on .... knowing 'who?' is infected - in the shrtst possible Time, and, Effective treatment of those afflicted. In the middle, despite what we're being told (distracting the sheeple from the failure of the above) is 'Isolation' and possible transmission mitigation, social disruption and it's band-aid support etc.

But look at the leverage of those three parts, and work on the ones that have the most effect on the angle.

Yes, I'm suggesting that for whatever reasons, the Powers-That-Be have got it, well, "Less than optimal..." and we'll be floundering in ever-more draconian "middle" remedies, while the see-saw teeters & totters - discombobulating everyone. ! (Future elections & Natural Selection will ultimately sort them out. Later.)

So, my suggestion is to push for this brilliantly effective 'Front End' - hound your local MP to pass it up the line, talk to anyone YOU know who works in the field, write a letter (Ok, ok, type an email) to newspapers or Radio & TV programs.

For the 'Rear End', more problematical.
Getting serious about enhancing your immune system, enough sleep, targeted nutrients, supplementation, and on the Therapy end various engineering & industry / manufacturers getting together to build equipment locally, (under licence) or significant financial investment in existing European brands, - or buy them out.

I came across a story of a small company who 3D printed a vital air-valve that is dispo$ed after each patient.
    - Spares were becoming non-exi$tant and this pair of engineers kept a large number of machines in service. With a desk-top 3D printer. That's an example of lateral thinking.
We need more of it. And we'll only get it if we TELL the people who are making Decisions. Push and annoy and Direct them.
