Another big difference is we have a big vaccination program for influenza, with multiple strains of vaccines available worldwide, but there is no vaccine yet for COVID - 19. In fact, they're not even sure if there is any herd immunity resulting from having had it, with some people already becoming infected a second time. There are lots of coronaviruses out there, but they don't normally jump to humans.
