Prior to Corona, I was confident He'd get in easily, but IMHO He hasn't handled Corona too well, He's made a few silly statements, & He's looked uncomfortable, so I don't know. In short, I don't think He's in such a strong position as He was, I suppose the other aspect is, how good a campaign can the other guy run.Quote:

No new cases in NZ for the first time in 49 days.
A minor milestone in the scheme of things. Our Director General of Health indicates while it is cause to celebrate a little, the numbers later this week will be more important as this will relate to cases infected after level 3 came into being. Meanwhile the breaches of level 3 conditions continues to mount such that noises from the decision makers are implying this could disrupt plans to move to level 2.

The hug-deprived Laurie Garret makes some telling observations about the US "health system" (It doesn't warrant upper case...) Perhaps the most expensive country in which to fall sick, arguably the highest - tech medical machinery and drugs, the most cost-efficient hospitals (many are 'for-Profit', so they need to be efficient to stay open) a very powerful Medical Association, one of, if not the highest number and variety of vaccinations for every possible disease and mandated by Law, the widest choices of foods, both fast and slow, adequate housing and hygiene for most.
So why are they dying in droves, in their hi-tech and efficient hospitals ?
Is there some underlying pathology such as pre-diabetes or air pollution or hidden infections or nutritional deficits afflicting so many Americans that they are more susceptible than say, Icelanders / Japanese / South Koreans / Mexicans, or Germans ?

It could be equally entertaining and a highlight of a lock-down week to have a sequel to Sundays episode, say a re-enactment of the the conversation between the PM and Dan Tehan after the Victorian government press release re a Corona virus case at a Victorian primary school. Much arm waving and shouting, 'expletive deleted' beeping and falling on sword vs. being thrown under bus commentary. Even a fade at the end to Dan Tehan (or the PM) relaxing to his favourite Edith Piaf (Non, Je Regrette Rien) song. There's a big marketing opportunity here for the ABC's Insiders team and with his extensive marketing background the PM could help make it happen with the bonus of a televised opportunity to advance his case. A win, win for all concerned. [bigsmile]
